The House of Lords or otherwise known as the Palace of Westminster which houses the famous Big Ben is one of London’s most beautiful attractions and lies on the north bank of the River Thames. The fireworks signify the English celebrating Guy Fawkes’ unsuccessful attempt in blowing up the House of Lords in 1605 which is celebrated annually on the 5th of November and the colours used for the fireworks and the colours used signify the colours of the political parties. My painting is based on a day scene, which I changed into a night scene so that I could bring out the colours to show the history. Each time I see the Houses of Parliament I am taken back by its beauty.
